The project FORBIOPLAST -Forest Resource Sustainability through Bio-based Composite Development - aims to valorise forest resources for bio-based products, to identify the best options for industrial exploitation of forest biomass at European scale, to develop enhanced technologies considering the current industrial synthesis of polyurethane and striving for an industrial scale of the process, to substitute the glass fibres and mineral fillers with wood-derived fibres in automotive interior and exterior parts, to develop biodegradable fibre composites from wood and polymers in packaging and agricultural sectors, and to produce polyurethane from materials based on forest resources.

FORBIOPLAST addresses the call: FP7-KBBE-2007-1 covering the themes Food, Agriculture and Fisheries, and Biotechnology, the topic KBBE-2007-3-1-04 - Forest Products - New forest based products and processes, and the expected impacts relating thereto.
As a Workpackage lead, Wiedemann GmbH was the responsible partner for market analysis, as well as exploitation and dissemination of the results. As an exploitation manager, the company's work included inter alia project reporting and publications therefrom.
