RUSTICA aims to advance highly innovative fertilisers and preservation of soils by converting leftover materials from the agri-food chain into added-value bio-based products towards optimized circular agricultural models. The project takes a multiactor approach and involves six main technologies targeting microbial biomass, NPK-concentrate, insect biomass, -frass, biochar, and compost as (basic-)products or building blocks in order to develop sustainable solutions for plant nutrient management and soil fertility which will be integrated into five case studies. Four of the five test regions (Almeria, Flanders, Friuli Venezia Giulia, Pays de la Loire) are located in Europe and one (Valle del Cauca) is situated in Colombia.
